The Shahaadah Atones for a False Oath - (The History of islam part-7)
Hadhrat Anas ( Radi allahu anhu ) narrates that when Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) charged a particular person for doing
something, the man denied it saying, "No. I swear by the Being besides
Whom there is none worthy of worship that I did not do it." Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) was however
certain that the man had done it, so after repeating himself several times,
Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam)
said, "Atone for this by attesting
that there is none worthy of worship but Allaah." Another
narration states that Rasulullaah
(Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said,
"Atone for your lie by confirming that there is none worthy of worship but
Allaah. Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Zubayr ( Radi
allahu anhu ) reports
that Rasulullaah (Sallallahu Alayhi wa
Sallam) said, "When a man took a false oath
using the words 'I swear by the Being besides Whom there is none worthy
ofworship', Allaah forgave him (because he recited the words of the Kalimah
Hayatus-Sahabah-Vol-3-page: 44-45
